ALN AND BAM ADOPT AN EQUITABLE WORLD MAP IN A PIONEERING BUSINESS INITIATIVE

Africa Logistics Network (ALN) and By All Means (BAM) announce the adoption of an Equal-Area World Map on their official websites, replacing the traditional Mercator projection with a cartographic model that accurately represents the true size of countries and continents.

This initiative reflects a growing international awareness — also supported by institutions such as the African Union — of the distortions created by conventional map projections, which often misrepresent the relative dimensions of regions, particularly in the Global South.

The new equitable map is now available on the Covered Areas pages of the ALN and BAM websites:
https://www.africalogisticsnetwork.com/covered-areas/ and https://www.bam-network.com/covered-areas/

A short video presenting the new equitable map is also available on YouTube:

Through this visual tool, visitors can instantly identify which countries are currently covered by ALN or BAM members and which countries still offer availability for new members to join the networks.

Unlike the traditional Mercator projection, which enlarges certain regions while minimizing others, the equitable map offers a more balanced and realistic visual representation of the world.

By integrating this cartographic approach into their digital ecosystems, ALN and BAM position themselves among the first international logistics networks outside the fair-trade sector to implement an equitable world map as a structural communication tool within the business environment.

This decision underlines a shared commitment to transparency, innovation and fair representation of the world.

About Africa Logistics Network (ALN)

Africa Logistics Network is a worldwide network of carefully selected freight forwarders with a strong focus on the African continent. Of its current 230 members worldwide, approximately 80 are based in Africa. ALN is the freight forwarders’ network with the most extensive coverage across the African continent.

About By All Means (BAM)

By All Means is an international logistics network connecting trusted freight forwarders worldwide. It was originally founded as ALNA, five years after the creation of ALN.

The network was later rebranded to strengthen its strategic alignment with ALN and to reinforce representation in countries where trade with Africa is still developing and therefore not yet sufficiently represented within the logistics sector.
